About Andover
The City of Andover,
strategically located 18 miles North of Boston at the intersection of
Route 128, Route 1 and I-95, is a city that works, residents state
emphatically. They point out that Andover has evolved into a diverse
vibrant community, a wonderful place to live and raise a family, and a
tremendous economic success story.
Throughout its history, Andover has been a regional employment center for
the North Shore. From its rise as one of the world's great
leather-producers with over 100 tanneries, to today's modern, highly
successful Centennial Industrial Park, newly renovated North Shore Mall
and rejuvenated downtown, Andover continues to be a focal point for the
North Shore economy.
Andover is also special because
its citizens believe in their community. One example is the "Pride in
Andover" program in which all segments of the community come together
to enhance, restore and maintain the beauty of the city. Citizens also
participate in and support the many community activities available such as
the International Festival, the Brooksby Harvest Festival, the Holiday
Festival and the Community Concerts series. This community spirit makes
the city exciting and gives it strength. Residents are confident that the
rejuvenated leather city sparkles more brightly than ever.
